Rev. Joseph Kassab Discusses Lebanon’s Crisis and NESSL’s Response in an Exclusive Interview

The Secretary General of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon, Rev. Joseph Kassab, had an interview on November 10 with the Evangelisch Reformierte Kirche website in Germany. In the interview, Kassab discusses the severe challenges facing Lebanon, which has experienced economic collapse, the devastating Port of Beirut explosion, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing war between Israel and Hezbollah. The conflict has displaced over 800,000 people, with the Shiite community particularly affected. Christian and Sunni areas have opened their doors to refugees. Kassab emphasizes the urgent need for shelter, food, mental health support, and education for displaced families. Through its Compassion Protestant Society (CPS), NESSL is providing critical aid and working toward peace by promoting love and compassion amidst violence. Despite the crisis, NESSL’s schools continue to offer education to students of all faiths, adapting with both in-person and online learning options.
