Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Under the theme “Do You Believe This?”, ecumenical churches gathered for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Rev. Joseph Kassab, President of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community took part in this gathering.

This year’s theme was chosen to reaffirm the importance of faith, hope, and unity in prayer, especially in a time when the world and the Middle East are facing wars, conflicts, crises, and divisions, alongside a wave of injustice, oppression, and hate speech.

This year’s Week of Prayer also coincided with the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council, which took place in Nicaea, near Constantinople, in 325 AD. This historic milestone offers a unique opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the shared Christian faith, as expressed in the Nicene Creed, which was formulated during the council.
